Update: June 22, 2020

The c-section has been scheduled for July 10th at 7 am! Finally a date to look forward to and attempt to prepare for. For the past 3 weeks that we have been in Chicago, our doctors have been monitoring Milo's progress twice per week.

Mondays - Ultrasound (biophysical profile (BPP), doppler test for placenta and umbilical cord, and growth measurements) plus consultation

Thursdays - Fetal Non-Stress Test (NST) - picture below, all strapped in for 30 minutes of monitoring Milo's heart and oxygen levels

Unfortunately due to restrictions at the Maternal Fetal Medicine Office, Kevin gets comfy in the waiting room during these appointments.

A few updates since our original post regarding Milo's status. With our Fetal MRI and growth scans that were performed June 1st and 2nd, Milo moved from the "moderate to severe" category to "severe". So what does this mean? There is a higher chance that he will require ECMO as soon as he's born, a system that provides heart-lung bypass support outside of the baby's body. We are still hoping that he will be able to be stabilized through intubation support, which comes with less long term risks.

Milo is currently measuring below the 5th percentile for overall growth. According to our scan this morning, his estimated weight is around 4 pounds 10 ounces. With two and a half weeks to go, we're hoping to see him gain at least one more pound before he joins us.

As far as Wesley goes - we've given him the nickname "Windy City Wes" at this point! He is embracing the city life and is absolutely loving being so much closer to all his extended family. It’s nothing but fun hanging out with his Papi (new roommate) in Chicago – plus getting to visit his Nana, Grandpa, aunts, uncles, and cousins from Chicago to Milwaukee is keeping Wes a happy camper!.
