Milo is two weeks old today – Kevin and I feel like our little one has been here for much longer, but we had a pretty good week! Since the last update, Milo successfully went on dialysis starting on Monday. The team has been laser focused on removing the excess fluid he gained since he came off and went back on ECMO last weekend. Not only will this help his lungs continue to grow (since they will have less weight to work against), but this will also prepare him to come off ECMO again and have a better handle on his pulmonary hypertension.
Milo’s chest x-rays continue to show slow positive progress – especially when compared to images of his lungs from his first week of life. With that said, the entire team are all on the same page with our goal for the next few days – successfully get Milo off ECMO.
We are gearing up for another long weekend here at Lurie’s so please keep the prayers and positive vibes coming to the 16th floor.
You are constantly in our prayers. Thanks for taking the time to post updates on Milo. I hope Kevin was able to have a piece of birthday cake on Thursday.
May sweet Milo, his parents and caregivers have a very boring weekend. Love you.
